Mexico Weekend Packing List

Each year my girlfriends and I go to Mexico to spend quality time together. 2020 was the first time we missed it and I cannot wait until next year until we can all be together. Over the years we have all moved to different locations although we all met in Hermosa Beach, California “back in the day”. A couple of the girls still live in the Los Angeles area, the rest are scattered around the US with me being the farthest in South Africa. We always enjoy our time in Mexico and it’s like no time has passed whenever we get together!

Since I went to San Diego for college, I’ve been to Mexico at least 30 times. The last several years I’ve been spending more times at resorts or rented houses where we spend most of our time in the pool, maybe a few hours of shopping in town and a nice restaurant for one dinner out. This Mexico Weekend Packing List is for a long weekend spent in Mexico whether you spend it with friends or family, I hope it helps. Substitute your favorite pieces and don’t overpack. I hope we all get to go soon!

Silver Jewelry-I always wear my silver bangles I bought from Mexico 20 years ago and take a couple of earrings with me.

I always do Carry On Only when going to Mexico as it’s a quick trip from Los Angeles to Puerto Vallarta or Cancun area. Because of this, I do not bring large sunscreens or bug spray and I just buy them there.

Additional Items to Bring

Beach Bag that double as a Carry On is a great use of space
Camera– this is my favorite camera as it fits in my pocket or small purse and takes great photos
Insulated Hot/Cold Beverage Tumbler– this keeps drinks so cold and the outside doesn’t “sweat” making a mess everywhere so I never travel without this. Actually the reason I have it was from a girls’ weekend in Mexico, my friend gave us all one and now I use it every day! Packing hack: I like to pack this and put all my undies, socks, etc inside = space saver!
Water Resistant Sunscreen. I am a Neutrogena Sunscreen fan…I of course can only buy what they have in MX but if they have it, it’s worth it. I also have sensitive skin so just any sunscreen won’t do or I’ll be dealing with bad skin for a week!
