Why Women’s Travel World Was Created

Every time I travel I see people struggling, having a hard time with too much luggage, not understanding how to go through the security check and holding the line up, and other beginner mistakes. On the flip side of that, I see the frequent travelers getting short with people who are obviously new to this and just an overall mood of frustration all around.  It’s unnecessary…we all have to go through the processes if we want to travel and it IS worth it!

There are so many things that people can do to cut down on that unnecessary stress. I truly enjoy traveling and when I walk through the airport I take it in, stroll along usually with one hand in my pocket very relaxed, I love people watching, seeing what everybody is wearing, what  luggage they have, hairstyles, make-up…to me it’s so much fun. I must say that I always make sure a conscious effort not to judge…I just wish everybody could be more relaxed, happy and excited for the journey ahead. I think if each person knew how to prepare properly, it would be a lot more enjoyable for all of us.

My Background

My husband and I run 2 travel agencies, one for Costa Rica and one for South Africa so we help clients with every step of the way of their travel experience. We think of ourselves as their personal concierge so I thought why not take that to the people who aren’t our clients…so here I am!

For 15 years I was in the fashion business….fashion merchandising, training and a new store openings. I traveled all over California, Las Vegas every month, Scottsdale Arizona and New Orleans. I worked for Nordstrom, Structure and French Connection United Kingdom. Nordstrom is where I learned the true meaning of Customer Service which has served me well in all of my businesses & work life.

After Fashion I switched gears to a more stable 9-5 type of job instead of always working holidays and weekends. I was the Marketing Manager for a high tech Engineering company for 6 years and booked travel for all the CEOs, president, etc to all of our domestic and international trade shows. I designed websites, brochures, booth graphics and everything needed for their fast growing business. I traveled for work and 99% of the times I took vacation or at least the weekend to explore the area after the trade show was done. I would always go early and get the “lay of the land” before the execs arrived so I was used to traveling solo with a lot of luggage for the shows. I traveled everywhere from Japan and Germany to Norway and Italy.

Once I decided to leave the US, I moved to Costa Rica and built a successful B&B/Guesthouse from the ground up. I really enjoyed taking care of clients, helping them with all of their travel arrangements, and scheduling all of their tours and transportation. On TripAdvisor I had over 65,000 readers and over 2,000 travel forum posts and was a top reviewer. I loved helping people to have the best vacation possible. I really enjoyed being able to help people with their travel itineraries and helping them to have realistic expectations of how much terrain they could cover comfortably during their time in CR. Not to mention where to buy items, what to pack, and all the fun things I love to chat about.

Million Miler Club for life with American Airlines and 400,000+ miles with Delta Sky Miles program.  I’ve traveled to over 300 cities (not including the stop overs in airports….it would be double that) and have traveled to some seriously remote and amazing places!

About Me & My Travel Style

  • 50 year old size 18 curvy woman who loves to travel & travel comfortably.
  • “Carry on Only “is how I roll…and at my size I promise you that it IS possible!
  • I have a serious Gluten allergy so traveling with that is an obstacle, started about 2 years ago. Where I live there are not many Gluten Free options.
  • Love and use airport lounges almost every trip…a BIG fan!
  • 1 Million Miler (for life) on American Airlines with current Platinum Status. Delta Sky Miles 440,000+/Silver Status.
  • If something doesn’t go as planned, I roll with it and keep a positive outlook.
  • My fashion style now is definitely classic, I wear clothing that looks good on me, makes me feel comfortable and confident.
  • I use many of my own photos wherever possible on the site so you can see any products that I suggest, I actually use!
  • I fly business whenever possible. I have long legs and even my 6’ husbands legs don’t hit the back of the seats like mine do.
  • Many of my travels over the years have been to see animals in their natural environment.  Some of my most exotic places I’ve traveled were the middle of the Peru jungle (Amazon Research Center), Belize in the jungle by un- excavated Mayan Ruins (Chan Chich), and several uninhabited islands and visiting the Kuna Yala tribe in Panama.
  • Today I fly both solo and with my husband. We have 6 animals at home so many times when I go home to the US to see my family, he stays behind. If we travel together, we get a pet/house sitter.
